Settings for Apps

What’s the feature?

Ability to manage some basic settings of an app like Meta Title, Favicon, Meta Description etc.

Your use case

While I understand teable’s primary focus is not making vibe coded apps like lovable etc, having a few basic settings would be great like meta title, description and favicon, amongst other basic settings of the app. I could replace this using the chat area via AI but I had to then use credits.

Hi @ankush.thor ,

Thanks for raising this — totally valid friction.

Quick workaround that works today: switch to minimax m2.7 high speed and use a prompt like this:

Update the app’s basic settings:

  • Meta Title: Cold Calling Hub | Sales Outreach Tool
  • Meta Description: Streamline your cold calling workflow. Manage leads, track follow-ups, and close more deals in one place.
  • Favicon: use the uploaded image as favicon
Apply all three to the app’s tag.

Took about 20 credits in my test.

Dedicated settings UI isn’t on our roadmap for now — we’re doubling down on making the agent good enough that you don’t need it. Not the answer you were hoping for, but wanted to be honest.

Thanks for the transparency. A crucial aspect of every builder is to ensure the basics like these should be editable in the interace itself, its not about only credit usage. So maybe if you can’t make this in a way that it doesn’t use credits at your end either, then an option in the interface to edit this for 20 credits fixed or something would be an interesting compromise?

Fair point — and I want to be honest rather than defensive about it.

You’re right that basic settings like these feel like they should “just be there.” Our bet is a different one: as models get faster and cheaper, the friction of doing this through the agent drops significantly. We’d rather invest in making that path feel effortless than build a parallel settings layer.

Your feedback is noted and genuinely appreciated.
