Why has Cuppy become so slow lately?

Hi everyone,

Has anyone else noticed a major slowdown with Cuppy recently?

Tasks that used to take less than a minute are now taking 5-10 minutes, and some coding tasks that previously took around 30 minutes can now take hours.

It feels like the overall performance has become roughly 10x slower compared with a week or two ago, even for relatively simple tasks.

I don’t think this is just related to the complexity of the prompts, because I’m seeing the slowdown across different types of tasks.

Has something changed recently on the Cuppy side, such as infrastructure, model routing, rate limits, context handling, or resource availability?

Is this a known issue?

Hi Alex, thanks for the detailed report. You’re right that something changed. On Sep 23 we moved the Lite model tier to a newer model. It reasons more thoroughly and takes more steps per task, so longer coding tasks now run noticeably longer. The speed of each step, the sandboxes and the rate limits haven’t changed.

Two things that may help:

  • Try setting Intelligence (in the model picker) to Medium for routine edits and fixes, and keep High for large features. Lower settings also use fewer credits.
  • Clear chat history when you begin a new feature. Your main chat has a very long history, and every step has to process it.

i’m having similar issues. cuppy takes even 10+ minutes before really starting to adjust an app. i’m using the standard setting smart + high. context window is 62% full, but even more simple changes to an app last 30-60 minutes.

Could you please share the App ID or URL with us? We’ll investigate the issue.

maybe it’s with the latest 6.1 models, the 5.6 models were really good. might switch back if recommended.

Do you have access to 5… models? I don’t. How did you change?
